Braxton's 3rd Birthday

Oh how I love that little face! Braxtons birthday was on Sunday this year, so after church we had a little party for him and had a barbecue and cake and ice cream with a few friends.

I made Braxtons cake the night before and hid it from him all the next day, because I knew the second he saw it he would want some and he wouldn't quit asking till he got it. And I was right. It accidentally got uncovered right before the barbecue began and brax saw it. He was so excited. He was jumping up and down and wouldn't stop trying to touch it and kept asking to eat it. Our barbecue was outside by the grills and he kept running back to the apartment to see the cake, missing the entire barbecue practically.

Braylee playing with the soccer ball, keeping herself entertained while everyone else ate.

Brax and his cake! The kid will not smile normal for a picture, it's always a goofy smile. Someday hopefully he'll just give me a nice smile! Good thing he has such a cute face he can pull most smiles off.

Brax and his presents. He was so excited to open these as you can imagine! I didn't get a picture of the opened presents because I was videoing. He got a bike though and he absolutely loves riding it. It has to be the best present we've ever bought him.

Dragon cake without the wings.

A few things I want to remember about Braxton at this age:

-He talks non-stop! Seriously. Braxton started talking very young and he has a very well rounded vocabulary, and he uses it constantly. All day Long!!!

-He has started to uses phrases that he hears me use and put them in sentences but they're not quite used the right way, it's really cute! Makes me laugh everytime.

-He says the funniest things. The other day I asked him why he was being a chicken and wouldn't jump his bike up on the curb anymore and he replied "cuz I'm a rooster mom!" Smart Boy. He is always saying funny things like this and I need to be better at writing them down.

-The other day Brax saw an older person with white hair and he asked me why they had white hair, so I explained that when we get older our hair goes white. So a few days later he's sitting on the toilet and he looks at me and says "mom I don't want my hair to go white." So I reassuringly tell him it's not going to and he says "yes mom, it's going to when I get old."

-He's got a great memory and will remember things from months and months back.

-The way he talks I often forget that he's only three, I have to remember he's still so young. I expect a lot out of him.

-He is very animated. Everything is very exciting and he is full of life. He is also very loud. Everything is said in almost a yelling voice, we are working on it!

-He has these big brown eyes with the most beautiful lashes they melt my heart, especially when he gives me this little puppy dog look he's mastered.

-He's very protective of his sister. If anyone does anything he knows they shouldn't do he gets very defensive, but that doesn't stop him from doing it a few minutes later.

-He loves hanging out with his dad. He gets so excited when he gets to go on outings with just him and dad.

-He always wants to win at everything he does. In fact if you don't lose, you will be chastised by him.

-He has the most amazing and funny imagination and it goes non-stop. His favorite is to pretend he's a horse and play with his cousins Tate and Kenley. However, when he's in Cali he just makes stories up like this morning their was a mouse in our house and it was jumping on his bed. Last night their was a porcupine attacking him in his bed. It's nonstop and it's very entertaining.

-He is smart, too smart, he tries to manipulate me way too often. Too often it works.

-He is full of questions but his answer is always the right one, working on this too.

-He loves to be my little helper, always right there with me wanting to know what he can do.

-He always wants to be right by me. I'll be cooking in the kitchen and look down to find Braxton on the floor next to me playing with his toys.

-He likes my undivided attention, all the time.

-He is sure he is just as big as everyone else, no matter their age or stature.

_I like to tease him about not getting bigger and staying my baby, and his reply is always "Mom I'm not a baby, I'm just Braxton."

- He likes to put his blanket over his head and pretend he's a ghost, but instead he always says look it's the Holy Ghost. He just means it's a ghost, but he's learned about the Holy Ghost and can't quite distinguish the difference. We're still working on it.

-He loves to sing and is always making up songs and singing to himself as he plays.

-He's never liked baths, weird, I know!

-He likes to play that he's an animal and want's me to address him as such. So instead of calling him Braxton he wants me to say Tiger, go eat your food.

-He has the hardest time falling asleep, his mind is going so fast and constant that it is seriously hard for him to shut it down and it takes him about an hour to get his mind and body shut down enough to fall asleep. It's a constant struggle, one that I hope we get over soon.

-He gets so excited to talk to his family on facetime he can hardly handle it and goes a little nuts in the process.

-His favorite thing to do is to line all his animals up on the kitchen floor. He's been doing it for years, now that he's a little older he has started playing with them and not just lining them up, but they always start lined up.

-He still loves to be held and rocked especially right after he wakes up. I love this, and am enjoying every second hoping it lasts.

I love this little boy so much and I'm so grateful he is mine.
